Selection, installation, maintenance, and safety considerations of steam pipes

I. Selection of rubber hoses:

  1. . Confirm the selection of hoses suitable for conveying steam.
  2. The category of the rubber hose should not only be printed on the packaging, but also be printed on the body of the rubber hose in the form a trademark.
  3. Identify the fields where steam pipes are used.
  4. What is the actual pressure of the hose?
  5. What is the temperature of the hose?
  6. Whether it can reach the working pressure.
  7. Is saturated steam high humidity steam or dry high temperature steam.
  8. How often is it expected to be used?
  9. How are the external conditions for the use of rubber hoses.
  10. Check for any spills or build-up of corrosive chemicals or oils that would damage the outside rubber of the pipe

II. Installation and Storage of Pipes:

  1. Determine the tube coupling for the steam pipe, the steam pipe coupling is installed outside the tube, and its tightness can be adjusted as needed
  2. Install the fittings according to the production instructions. Check the tightness of the fittings based on the purpose of each tube.
  3. Do not over-bend the tube near the fitting.
  4. When not in use, the pipe should be stored in a proper manner.
  5. Storing the tubes on racks or trays can minimize damage during storage.

III.  Carry out regular maintenance and repair of steam pipes:

Steam pipes should be replaced in time, and it is necessary to frequently inspect whether the pipes can still be used safely. Operators should pay attention to following signs:

  1. The outer protective layer is waterlogged or bulging.
  2. The outer layer of the tube is cut and the reinforcement layer is exposed.
  3. There are leaks at the joints or on the body of the pipe.
  4. The tube was damaged at the flattened or kinked section.
  5. The decrease in air flow indicates that the tube is expanding.
  6. Any of the above-mentioned abnormal signs should prompt timely replacement of the tube.
  7. The tubes that have been replaced should be carefully inspected before being used again

IV.Safety:

  1. The operator should wear safety protective clothing, including gloves, rubber boots, long protective clothing, and eye shields. This equipment is mainly used to preventalding by steam or hot water.
  2. Make sure the work area is safe and orderly.
  3. Check if the connections on each tube are secure.
  4. Do not leave the tubing under pressure when not in use. Shutting off the pressure will extend the life of the tubing.
